Biography

Biography
A Realm Reborn
Awakening on the side of the road near Gridania, Ryon made a quick name for himself as a Lancer, hunting down monsters along the outskirts, leading travelers to outposts, and just generally being the go to guy before being called by Hydaelyn, tasked with becoming the Warrior of Light. This set him on the path to meeting the Scions, his reputation growing as he did so. He overcame trial after trial, along the Scions, their trust together growing exponentially. After the battle with Lahabrea, he became the Scion’s best hope against the Primals, even adventuring into the Coils of Bahamut with Alisaie and Alphinaud, discovering the fate of Louisoux and the Garlean, Nael. Furthering his career, the Crystal Braves were founded, with Ryon spearheading many operations under them before the betrayal by Ilberd. Being caught in the use of Flow below Ul’dah, he was teleported to Garlemald, unable to use magic or hear the voice of the Mother Crystal. He fought battalions of the Empire for many hours, before being captured and brought before Solus for experimentation. He was put into the role of a lab rat, undergoing numerous experiments and tests, all the while searching for a way to escape back home.
Heavensward
Having been experimented on for months, Ryon has become a Resonant, someone with the powers of the Echo, albeit artificially. Having been a prototype, it is highly unstable, causing him great discomfort at the gain of his old power. Hatching his plan to finally break free of the Garlean's clutches, he incites a riot, meeting another prisoner, a Gunbreaker named H'rald. The two of them lead many a unhappy citizen and prisoner, eventually making their way all the way to the outskirts. A man named Zenos arrives and cuts down H'rald, with Ryon taking his gunblade and crystal, before barely managing to fend off Zenos. Unbridled hatred for that murderer building inside, he decides to flee to survive for another day, vowing revenge against the man. He travels all the way to Ishgard, arriving as the new Warrior of Light and Alphinaud are restoring the dragon's good name, deciding to join the two and the two others accompanying them, Estinien and Ysayle. One thing leading to another, they eventually make their way to Nidhogg, with many sacrifices having been made, along with losing their sanity to the Moogles and their tricks. Returning to Ishgard after defeating the Wyrm, Ryon bears witness to Estinien arriving, having been possessed by Nidhogg, deciding to help his newfound friend regain his former self. Officially rejoining the Scions at this point, he helps defeat and ultimately save Estinien, watching as the Eyes fall deep into the chasms below Ishgard, before helping Ser Aymeric and company bring Estinien to a clinic. Ryon keeps an eye on him, and when he has regained himself, goes off to help the Scions with a new problem: the threat of Alexander. Climbing around and through the Primal, Ryon's powers show their first major signs of discomfort, causing his eyes to flash red, and his arms to burn hot from abusing this strength. He is forced to rest while the Warrior continues making their way through the Primal, before rejoining to help his friend defeat the core of Alexander itself, ultimately saving the surrounding area from further damage. He continues to practice using his powers, all in the hopes that he may once again meet, and defeat, Zenos.

Arriving in Rhalgr's Reach as it is being attacked, Ryon witnesses Zenos defeat everyone present, among them Y'shtola, sending him into a frenzy. Although unable to kill the man, Ryon succeeds in his ploy, giving time to the Warrior and company to get the wounded out of harm's way, before vowing to kill the man who had caused such destruction. He becomes a shoulder for Lyse, having told everyone her true identity, slowly opening up to her presence, and growing closer overall. Volunteering to accompany Alphinaud, Alisaie, Tataru, and the Warrior, Ryon gets on a boat to Kugane, having to fend off numerous enemies along the Sirensong Sea, before reaching their destination. Krile grabs Ryon at this time and teaches him about how to manage the Scion's gil for traveling, purchases, and whatever else they may need, before going off on his own to begin working on their relations in Yanxia to build a resistance against the Viceroy and Zenos. Remembering the Viceroy, Yotsuyu, he begins to undermind their support by helping the townsfolk, slowly gaining their trust, before being noticed by her. He fights against her soldiers sent, before being given an ultimatum: Come with her to hear of her plans, or watch the town get destroyed. He goes with her, not knowing her plan was to originally have Zenos go in and kill the townspeople. He manages to coerce information out of her through light seduction, before making his escape with help from his Chocobo, Odin. Having arrived as Zenos is fighting against Yugiri and the Warrior, he joins the fight, being the only one able to fully withstand his assault. The Warrior breaks part of his helmet, before the townspeople arrive and save Yugiri from her own death. The three of them make their way to the Azim Steppe, and partake in the Tribe's war of dominance, gaining their support as well. They go and fight the Viceroy at Doma Castle, with Gotsetsu and Yotsuyu missing, and the Castle being destroyed. All of the continents ready to assault the Empire, they go back to Rhalgr's, joining with Lyse and the rest of Ala Mhigo, with Lyse giving Ryon new clothing, his having been ripped and gradually gaining more wear and tear, along with an Armband with the insignia of Ala Mhigo's Resistance. The next morning, the battle begins, Ryon running alongside the Warrior to find and ultimately kill Zenos. They fight through many adversities, including a scientist by the name of Aulus, the very same that did the procedure on Ryon for the Resonance nearly a year ago, before finally arriving at Zenos. His grudge match finally arriving, Ryon takes no time is joining forces with the Warrior, a harrowing battle taking place, before finally defeating his nemesis, although not all was as it seemed. They pursued the man to the Menagerie, Shinryu being kept captive there, with Zenos using his powers to combine with the Primal. The three of them fight to end the battle, finally defeating the man. The leaders of the Resistance and the Scion's arriving, Zenos says his last words, before killing himself. The war over, Ryon accompanies Lyse back to Rhalgr's just as Y'shtola is waking up, genuine relief filling Ryon. He stays by her side for a good while, joining back with the Scion's to help negotiate peace terms. Yotsuyu is brought back to Hien by Gotsetsu, both having survived the Castle's fall, with Yotsuyu going by Tsuyu, having lost her memories. Her brother arrives, Asahi tricking her into summoning a Primal onto herself by coercing her memories back. Being the one able to respond the fastest, Ryon fights against Tsukuyomi, with the Warrior arriving to help fend her off not long after. As she lays dying, Yotsuyu ends her brother, with everyone present saddened by the loss of a new Comrade, even with her past against her. Ryon goes off to train with Y'shtola, before she falls into a coma, followed by much of the rest of the Scion's. With just Ryon, and the Warrior left standing, they fight at the Ghimlyt Dark against a somehow ressurected Zenos, before finally discovering it was the Ascian, Elidibus. The two of them fight off the Ascian, before being called into a world by an Unknown voice. Coming to many days later, Estinien had saved the both of them from death, before introducing them to Gaius, now fighting actively against the Ascians. Deciding to follow the voice, they go to the Crystal Tower to cross over onto a Shard named The First, home to the Warriors of Darkness.
Shadowbringers
Arriving into the new world, Ryon quickly makes his way through a place called Lakeland, finding the Warrior rather quickly talking with a man all too familiar from when his own travels began. They make their way to the Crystarium, being introduced to Lyna and the Crystal Exarch, although Ryon had a feeling he knew this man already from many years ago. Both being tasked with finding the Scions who had been taken to the First accidentally, they slowly make their way to finding their lost friends. Meeting Alisaie in Amh Araeng, Ryon watches as the woman they had worked with, Tesleen, is turned into a Sin Eater, being painfully reminded of his past, and his inability to save others. They make their way to Kholusia, finding Alphinaud attempting to learn more about Eulmore, a place where the rich feast on the poor. They eventually sneak in and meet Vauthry, a man who Ryon automatically detests, and shows it more than willingly. Having the information they had desired, they quickly run from Eulmore to the Crystarium, where Sin Eaters are running rampant nearby due to the Warden of Light. They fight through many hardships before defeating the Warden, with the Warrior somehow absorbing the Light, causing night to return to Lakeland. They go back to the Crystarium, with Ryon catching up with their two friends, being told of the time differences between the two worlds. They all try to save this world's version of Minfilia, and almost don't succeed if it hadn't been for Thancred's timely intervention against a man named Ran'jit. With Eulmore hot on their tails, they run to Il Mheg, where they meet Urianger once more, being told of the Umbral Calamity that would befall the Source. Ryon goes with the group, eventually defeating the corrupted Pixie King, Titania, saving the pixies as well as Il Mheg from the Light. The pixies help drive back the Eulmorans, as thanks for giving Feo Ul the right to become the new King. Making their way back to the Crystarium, they meet Emet-Selch, a man that Ryon knows almost instantly due to his time in captivity. They decide to "let" Emet accompany them, with the man constantly poking at Ryon, causing more than one outburst at the man, before arriving into Rak'tika Greatwood. Y'shtola arrives among the Night's Blessed, being surprised at the Warrior's Aether, and Ryon for coming to look for her. They go back Slitherbough, where the group decides to discuss where the Warden is in this area, with Ryon and Y'shtola talking privately way into the night unseen by others. The next morning, they search some Ronkan ruins to find where this Warden may be, running into the Eulmorans once again. Ran'jit poisoning the Night's Blessed, Y'shtola sacrifices herself for the antidote that the Eulmoran throws into the pit in front of them. Ryon seemingly becomes depressed at having lost her AGAIN, before Emet brings her back to them once more. While still angry with the man, Ryon thanks him for saving the person who cares most about, with Emet just laughing at his actions. They proceed to the Qitana Ravel, finally finding and defeating the Warden, before Emet shows and tells them the truth about Hydaelyn and Zodiark, causing Ryon to double over in pain, his echo forecfully projecting a memory of a man named Hythlodaeus, alongside Emet-Selch. Completely disturbed by the events, he consoles in Y'shtola, solidifying their relationship, and bringing them closer once again. Vauthry leads an assault against the Crystarium, with Ryon personally attacking his strongest Sin Eater's, earning the trust of the Crystal Exarch. When the battle is over, The Exarch tells Ryon the truth of what had transpired between him and Urianger, with Ryon being detested at someone in such authority using others so simply. He vows to find another way than to sacrifice the Warrior for the First, before everyone decides to take Minfilia to Amh Araeng in the hopes of finding the next Warden. They succeed, but at the cost of the Shard's Minfilia disappearing to give the current version her powers, with Thancred nearly dying to stall Ran'jit from taking her away. As they regroup, Thancred names this Minfilia "Ryne" to give her her own path in life, before they head down into Malikah's Well, Ryne having found the last Warden. As the groups seperate inside to make progress, Ryon takes Y'shtola, Ryne, and Urianger, where Ryne begins to look up to Ryon, and he decides to take her under his wing as Thancred does with her, to teach her more about protecting herself. They get to the Warden, where Ryon's Resonance peaks into vast amounts of pain, being unable to help fight as he passes out from exertion. When he comes to, the group has brought him with in the hopes he woke up before they got to Eulmore. Y'shtola becomes overjoyed and helps Ryon make their way throughout Eulmore, being present when the Warrior ends Ran'jit, and Vauthry creates Mt. Gulg. They work alongside much of Kholusia, creating a Talos large enough to reach the floating Mountain. They all make their way through the place, many Sin Eater's trying to stop them, before reaching the Sin Eater always guarding Vauthry, defeating her and opening the way to the crazed Leader. Ryon and the Warrior fight and defeat Vauthry, now known to be the last Warden named Innocence, before The Light takes a toll on the both of them. Ryon's body begins to form into a Sin Eater, only being stopped partially by Emet, while the Warrior begins to be in the same pain Ryon had felt throughout this journey. The Exarch is shown to be Graha Tia, before being shot by Emet, and taken to a place called Amaurot. The Warrior losing hope, Ryon begins to search for a way to this place, coming to the First's Bismarck, bringing the group with him when it agrees to take them far into the depths of the Ocean to find this place. They eventually make their way to Amaurot's Shade, where the Warrior talks with a Shade named Hythlodaeus, who is aware he is dead. When he looks at Ryon, both of them double over, the truth finally ringing clear to Ryon: He is the sundered version of Hythlodaeus, hence his numerous encounters with Emet helping him live, as they had been friend far in the past. Before this Shade disperses, he gives Ryon part of his Soul that had somehow stayed intact, freeing Ryon of the pain of his Resonance, and reopening his connection to aether fully, becoming far stronger in the process. His body recovered from the Sin Eater Corruption, although his left side was covered in occasional burns from so much Light. They meet with Emet once more, going through his recreation of the Final Days, challenging the group to show him they were worthy. Feeling they were not, he begins to defeat them, Ryon watching as Y'shtola is harmed. The Warrior joins with their shard, and the two of them alongside 6 other Heroes summoned by Graha, fight off Emet, now known as his true title, Hades. Managing to defeat this foe, the group promises to remember Amaurot, before Emet reminds Ryon of his past self's friendship, with Ryon easing the man's worries, before finally disappearing. Ryon stays with Y'shtola until the Warrior and him go back to the Source to tell the others of what has happened. Ryon is present when Estinien tells them of Elidibus leaving Zenos' body, with Zenos somehow taking it back himself. He helps Gaius fend off the Ruby Weapon, now knowing about the Empire using past incarnations of memorable Garleans to power the new Weapons being created. He goes back to the First, staying alongside Y'shtola as they prepare to return their friends back home, before Elidibus himself shows up. The group follows him around, before calling his bluff in using Ardbert's lifeless body as his new vessel. He awakens the echo in many in the Crystarium, being caught in a fight with Ryon about honoring the past, before leaving. Having found the memories of the Ancient known as Venat deep inside the Anyder, he helps Y'shtola in searching through them, his memories slowly returning along with information vital to the group about Hydaelyn. Continuing his research, Elidibus interrupts and kidnaps an unconscious Y’shtola, leading to Ryon going with the WoL to the Tempest, fighting through a memory tourney, ultimately facing off against Zenos, before the illusion dissipates. The two fight Elidibus, later on at the Crystal Tower, ultimately defeating the Emissary himself.

Biography (Continued)
Defeating Elidibus brings a bittersweet victory, as he regains his memories, as well as Ryon learning due to his experiments from Emet, he has become the technical “last” of the Ascians, at least as long as that portion of Emet’s soul lives on. He decides to honor the past by defending who he now knows without a doubt is Azem, the WoL, and his friend, from any of the remaining Ascian threats. Continuing to train, Thancred gifts him with a new Gunblade based off his own, Ryon having burnt his to the core fighting Elidibus, with Ryon being extremely grateful for the gift. Hythlodaeus’ Shade frequently visits him in a dreamscape to test the man, and train him in his use of Emet’s, and his own, abilities. He returns to the Source with his friends, just in time to help the Warrior fend off the Sapphire Weapon, acting as a distraction to the pilot while the Warrior used a Mech to defeat their foe. Still wary of Gaius, they continue to disrupt the Garleans, unwilling to let more lives be lost. He travels to the First alongside the Warrior, tapping into the Sin Eater Eden to return the elements back to the Empty, with Ryne’s help. They continue this plan, ultimately meeting a girl named Gaia, who Ryon comes to view as a child he should protect. Ryne decides to merge with Shiva, almost being taken over by the Light, with Gaia saving her from the tragic fate. Deciding to continue helping in Thancred’s stead, he helps the Warrior and company continue returning the Aether to the Empty, viewing it as a way to train further.

Relations

Y'shtola: Close friend, with a relationship beginning to bud during their latest adventures. Ryon finds comfort in her actions, even if they aren't the typical soft spoken ones of many of his other friends. They continue to spar with eachother both through physical and mental, to keep their strengths and wits sharp.

Thancred: Friends, with a brotherly bond. The two of them help eachother train as they learn more about being unable to use magic as easily as the others. After Ryon regains his, he puts much time into helping Thancred eventually regain his connection to Aether.

Urianger: Rocky Friends, with a small respect for the other. Although feeling betrayed by Urianger, Ryon can't bring himself to hate someone who only does what's best in the bigger picture.

Alphinaud: After defeating Louisoux, Ryon became highly protective of Alphinaud. He treats him as his younger brother, unwilling to let any harm come to him. He prides Alphinaud on how smart he has become over recent times.

Alisaie: As with Alphinaud, Ryon is fiercely protective of her. Knowing she can handle herself, he spars with her in hopes of making her see her own strengths that she overlooks.

Ryne: Ryon views her as his own, having seen her rise from a scared girl to someone who will fight for her friends. He helps her in restoring the weather around Eden, being genuinely impressed by her recent actions.

Gaia: Ryon views Gaia as someone who needs to be trained, taking an approach of that of a Father Figure and mentor, much like Thancred did with Ryne, attempting to show her the good in the moments they are involved in.

Emet-Selch: These two are complicated. Ryon detests those who would look down at others, but since he has saved Ryon and his friends numerous times, he can at least respect him for those actions. Their past as Hythlodaeus influences some of his actions towards Emet, mostly alongside justifying some of his actions.

Hythlodaeus: These two are the same, but different. As they travel, Ryon gains more and more visions of Hyth's past, each one igniting another flame inside of Ryon, helping his reconnection to the Aether. Ultimately, his shade begins to teach Ryon how to manipulate the Aether with his new abilities, as a way of his past self passing the torch to his present day incarnation.

Graha Tia/Crystal Exarch: Due to their past, he trusts Graha, even if he doesn't fully understand his actions. He is glad to see his friend awake and moving after the events of the Crystal Tower.

H'rald: The Hrothgar who met his unfortunate end saving Ryon from Zenos. Although long dead, he teaches Ryon still through use of his Job Crystal, being the teacher Ryon needs through these trying times.
